The ongoing back and forth between Austin Rivers and Draymond Green is the content gift that keeps on giving.
The two have been sniping back and forth since Green said that playing for Steve Kerr hindered is game in some ways, comments that rubbed Rivers the wrong way and that he , in part , termed “ridiculous” and called Green, “the luckiest basketball player” that he’s ever seen.
Green’s latest incidence of verbal lunacy had him taking an unprovoked and unwarranted shot at Charles Barkley. On the most recent episode of the very popular Inside the NBA, Barkley said that he thought the Golden State Warriors’ run had come to an end. Green, who was sitting in for Shaquille O’Neal , responded with “I think the goal is just not to look like you in the Houston Rockets uniform”
Rivers, like many basketball fans, took great umbrage to Green’s disparaging remark on Barkley.
He said that while Draymond is a first ballot Hall of Fame player and was a “star in his role”, thinks that Green “talks too loose and ..with conceit in his voice when he tries to come at other players as if he’s better than them. No, no, no, you’ve achieved more because you were a star in your role , and a cast that Steve [Kerr] , the guy that hindered your career, placed you in and helped you and embraced you with a bunch of guys on a very talented team, one of the greatest teams ever assembled.”
Rivers was not done, challenging Green to a 1-on-1:
“Why don’t you play me 1-on-1, Draymond? You can’t do handoffs in 1-on-1. You can’t run pick-and-roll in 1-on-1.
